New Court and ClubHouse

We are very excited about plans for a new court and clubhouse.

The fourth court

After a great deal of organising and fundraising our fourth court is almost finished. The work which started over Christmas has now reached the penultimate stage with temporary lines in place so we can continue to play matches. The final painting will be done when weather conditions are more reliable – hopefully end of April.

Our thanks go to the sub-committee who have spent so many hours on the telephone, up at the courts and writing letters etc – Chris Coote, Nick St. John and Ian Stewart. Well done everybody... now on to the new clubhouse!

The Clubhouse will consist of:

A permanent clubhouse building with:

  • 36 Square metre function room
  • Male and female changing rooms
  • Storeroom

Planning permission was granted in December 2005, but problems have been experienced in accommodating the roots of trees close to the building. Finding an acceptable solution has taken longer than expected and, consequently, Local Building Authority approval is still being sought. This will also require more funding than had originally been anticipated.

Current sources of funding (all now approved):

  • The Lawn Tennis Association
  • Fareham Borough Council
  • The Foundation for Sport and the Arts
  • SITA Trust (Landfill Communities Funding regulated by ENTRUST) – towards floodlighting
  • The Hampshire Playing Fields Association
  • Club funds
